Its quite simple too. Write articles relating to your website and your niche topics and submit them to "free content" article directory sites. Easy to do, takes little time and the eventual increase in your website traffic, sales and your income is assured.
Your article on the free article directory site contains your website link at the bottom, in what is known as a "resource box". When readers get to the bottom of your interesting article, they may choose to click on the link and pay your website an unexpected visit.
Placing articles on the free article content sites also makes these articles available to other webmasters who might want to publish that article on their site. If they do, your article will still include the resource box link back to your site. And anyone who reads the article on that site can still click on the link to visit your site.
As the list of your published, unique articles grow larger, and more and more of them start appearing on different websites, the total number of these very valuable links to your site increases accordingly. Major search engines absolutely love this as they are placing a lot of significance on incoming links to websites so they can determine the importance of a certain website.

If your site is into promoting programs, products or services, the visits that your articles achieve will mean more potential customers for you. If you think you are wasting your time writing these articles (yes, it can be time consuming in the beginning), fast forward to the time when you will see them printed and all over the internet. Try writing some unique keyword-rich articles (500-700 words) and you will be almost certain of a sudden surge in website traffic, link popularity and customer interest. Before you know it, you will be doubling and even tripling your earnings.
A personal word of caution: Stay as far away as possible from the free private label article packages that are available all over the internet. The majority of them contain absolute gibberish in the articles - they have been so optimized for search engines that they cannot be read by any reasonably intelligent human being. These articles usually have to be very heavily modified to make sense. Always remember to write the articles for your human readers and if you do a good job, you will find that they can easily and simply be modified to include a small amount of appropriate keywords that will still keep the search engines happy.
There is nothing like writing articles to get these long-term benefits - and your internet marketing can then be free.
